Taking a Resort Day at Walt Disney World

I always recommend taking a day off from the parks and spending it at your Disney resort! Why?

Traveling can be so exhausting. It’s a good idea to arrive early, check out the resort and enjoy all the amazing amenities. I just got back from Disney World’s Polynesian Resort (which I loved)!

We arrived early on our first day and had Bell Services hold our bags until our room was ready. (I did mobile check-in to let them know I was arriving early). We were able to enjoy a delicious lunch and then got an alert from the My Disney Experience app on my phone that our room was ready early. Bell Services delivered our bags and we were off to the pool!

Disney resort pools are so great with water slides, pool activities, pool bars, and they’re heated too. You can even get a Dole Whip at the Polynesian!! (My kids were able to participate in the craft of the day and got to tie dye Mickey shirts – so much fun!)

Not only are resort pools great, at each resort you will find a list of all resort activities. Resort activities can include crafts, pool parties, trivia, game night, movies under the stars, campfires, volleyball, cornhole/baggo, ping pong, and much more.

Depending on what resort you stay at, you might have access to spas, fitness centers, walking/running trails, and golf. Magic Kingdom resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge can see nightly viewings of Electrical Water Pageant and fireworks from Cinderella’s Castle. The BoardWalk and Beach Club resorts have the best view of fireworks from Epcot.

Resorts have great dining options. Resort day is a good time to check them out while you are taking a break from the parks. Often resort restaurants are less crowded. And if you don’t want to stay at your resort, you can also head over to Disney Springs for many other dining options.

Let’s be honest, walking around Disney World from park opening to park closing is even more exhausting than travel day(s). So why not take a day to relax and enjoy all the amazing amenities at your resort.

There are over 25 Disney resorts and I can help you pick the one that is right for your family so you can enjoy all the amenities that are available and get the most out of your vacation!
