Since opening on December 5, 2019, Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has proven to be the most popular attraction at Walt Disney World. So popular in fact, that a new queue system was introduced. Officially called “Boarding Groups,” this system is basically a virtual queue
How does a virtual queue work? A virtual queue holds your place in line without you physically being there until it is your turn. It is not the same as the old Fast Pass system that you may be familiar with. Fast Passes were a return time that was in addition to the regular stand by lines. A virtual queue takes the place of stand by lines completely. The beauty of a virtual queue is that you can go experience other attractions, shop, eat, etc. while you wait your turn. In the age of social distancing, this is really ideal. You have two opportunities to join a boarding group – one at 7:00 am and one at 2:00 pm.
Sounds easy, right? Not exactly. Due to high demand, Boarding Groups are gone for the day in a matter of seconds. If you want to experience Rise of the Resistance, it is critical that you have a plan and good strategy to increase your chances of getting into a Boarding Group.
The good news is that the team at Small World Big Fun can help you increase your chances of grabbing a Boarding Group. Disney has changed the way to the Boarding Groups process works several times since it was put into place and we have experienced them all!
