Disney holds a special place in the heart of Small World Big Fun agent Mary Elizabeth Maynord. Her parents married in June of 1972, just a few months after Walt Disney World® Resort opened in Orlando. They spent part of their honeymoon there, and both were hooked!
“Even though we grew up in Tennessee, we made it to Disney at least once every other year. Some of my fondest childhood memories (like running to Space Mountain®, which was allowed back in the day!) were made there,” Mary Elizabeth says.
Tragically, Mary Elizabeth’s mom passed away from cancer in 1992, but she feels a special connection to her mom each time she returns and loves continuing the Disney tradition with her husband and four children.
One of her favorite family traditions is what she calls the “9-year-old trip.” She started this tradition when her oldest son turned 9. “I take just the one child to Disney and plan the trip around that child’s favorite things. For the girls, we do all-out girly-style with princess dining and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. For the boys, it’s all about Star Wars.”
