Are you ready to start "PLANNING TO BE SPONTANEOUS" with one of our BIG FUN Disney Experts?

Ashley Russell

“Of course this is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” – Albus Dumbledore

Ashley Russell’s love affair with Harry Potter began like so many other parents – she started reading the books with her kids. “I have always been an avid reader and a fan of fantasy. I just fell in LOVE with these characters. I have read the books at least 10 times and I still find details and new insights every time I read them.”

Ashley has been her family’s trip planner for years.  A huge Disney fan since 2001, Ashley loves planning frequent trips to Disney World with her extended family. Life changed in 2014, when the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in Universal Studios Orlando. “I adore the Disney theme parks and always will, but The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is something altogether different from any other theme park experience. It completely immerses you in the world of Harry Potter. I find it difficult to go to Orlando and not spend at least one day there.” Her favorite thing to do at Universal? Ride Escape from Gringott’s then stop for ice cream at Florean Fortescu’s Ice cream Parlour.

Now that she has an empty nest (except for her husband and boxer/mastiff/Italian greyhound mix, Athena,) Ashley is looking to put her vacation planning skills to work at Small World Big Fun. In addition to planning trips to the theme parks in Orlando, Ashley plans a mean trip to New York City.  “My maternal grandmother lived in Manhattan and I spent my childhood summers there,” says Ashley. “New York, like Disney, can be a little overwhelming for first time visitors.  I know that city like the back of my hand, and I love taking friends who have never been.
